Howard Primary School is a mixed two-form ​entry community school for pupils aged from 4 - 11 years.

Howard Primary School prides itself on both excellent academic achievements and dedication to producing well rounded individuals within a caring, nurturing and safe environment. 

The school is maintained by Croydon Council, and was built in 1897. It opened in April 1898 and has been educating the children of Croydon for over 120 years.

Howard Primary school is named after Lord Howard of Effingham (1536 -1624) who once owned the land on which the school is built. Howard was Lord High Admiral to Queen Elizabeth I during the time of the Spanish Armada which explains why the school emblem on the royal blue uniform is an Elizabethan Man of War under full sail. The Latin word 'Paratus' on the uniform logo stands for `being prepared'. ​
